Sharon Bloom Designs

Pottery

Sharon Bloom has been creating whimsical folk-art style ceramic art since 1986. Although her background is in painting and printmaking, her love for clay and sculpting led her down a different path for creating dimensional art.

Her love of seasonal holidays inspires her, especially Halloween. For Sharon, there is nothing more magical and inspiring than counting the days until Halloween! Even though it’s always Halloween in Sharon’s head, this excitement and passion have led her to create a large body of Halloween-themed artworks annually for online sales on Etsy, and the spectacular All Hallow’s Art Fest event she has participated in for many years.

Sharon’s favorite method of clay construction is pinch pottery, creating hollow forms that can be assembled into larger sculptural works such as rattles, and anthropomorphic characters. This method of construction allows her to express her imagination dimensionally in a variety of forms.

Having a formal education in painting, drawing, and printmaking transfers to her work which is rich with surface design, texture, and sometimes patterns. In her early art career, Sharon licensed with the giftware industry, and saw her ideas produced on greeting cards, rubber stamps, needlepoint designs, t-shirts, and ceramics.

Sharon truly enjoys creating one-of-a-kind Halloween sculptures and artworks that speak to her soul and imagination, which she hopes resonate with others of like mind. Currently, Sharon is an art education teacher for grades K – 8, and continues to share her love of art, Halloween, and artistic expression with others.

The highlight of her year is participating in All Hallow’s Art Fest in Petaluma, CA. She also has a vibrant Etsy shop for her loyal patrons near and far, who cannot attend in-person events but are very passionate about Halloween collecting. All of Sharon’s collectors hold a special place in her heart and mean the world to her.
