Anthony Costanza
Anthony Costanza has been bewitching collectors and admirers of his artistry in wood for over 40 years. Combining wood, paint, his vivid imagination, and his love of vintage holiday art has been his driving passion since 1985, when he was still teaching foreign languages at the high school level.
In 1990 he left teaching behind, and in the years since has carved over 8000 unique pieces, garnered national attention in Good Housekeeping, Country Living, CNN International, and many other local and national media, exhibited in well-known shows, galleries and shops, and licensed his original designs and carvings for 20 years with four nationally known companies.
He sees potential in each piece of wood he holds, and often says he simply facilitates the figure’s release. His talent is natural and he
takes pride in using only simple hand tools and water color and acrylic paints to finish each piece. Halloween and Christmas are his carving passions, and he has impressive vintage collections in both areas.
Many of his Halloween ideas are from his own imagination or inspired by Halloween postcards and die cuts. Witches, skeletons, jack-o-lanterns, haunted houses, Hollywood monster legends, and ghouls and goblins are often found when his Halloween web site debuts in September. His art is treasured and collected by many, and often his collectors’ passion for his work is passed on to a new generation. Instagram has an impressive retrospective of nearly 500 unique pieces, his web site is updated three times each year (Halloween in September!), and eBay highlights his resin reproductions, opening the market for beginning collectors.
