Holloway, Megan

Mercury and Magpie

Megan Holloway is a folk artist who works with cloth and clay; she has been creating dolls for over twenty years!  Though versed in other mediums, figure and form are ever present in her subject matter…and she invariably returns to doll making.  Megan intends to craft your favorite decoration that you’re excited to unpack, year after year, season after season–or that you love so much that you display the piece year ‘round!  In the same vein of inspiration that the very first human figures were crafted, she wishes to offer you a sweet memory…and a bit of magic!

Growing up, Megan wasn’t allowed to celebrate Halloween…aside from one magical night when she was eight years old.  That potent memory emerges in her work frequently–the children, the treat buckets, the costumes…the possibility of monsters that stalk and snap and growl–thankfully they often wear crooked grins or toothy (genuine) smiles.

Megan loves to study vintage illustrations, old timey monsters, folk lore and fairy tales.  She lives in the beautiful Rocky Mountains and is thrilled to be included in the Halloween Art Guide for Spellbound Collectors!
