Brandi Jacobs doesn't remember a time she wasn’t in love with all things spooky and Halloween. She grew up spending a ton of time with her grandparents. One grandma encouraged her art from a very young age. The other-her granny, was an oil painter herself and also loved to tell scary stories as well as watch Tales from the Crypt with the grandkids when they slept over at her house. Brandi loved watching her granny paint and always wished she had inherited that gift. Apparently Brandi was meant more for 3-dimensional creations and it always came more naturally to her.
Brandi was able to rediscover her love for Halloween while staying home with her four kids. Doing crafts with them, introducing them to movies like Corpse Bride and Coraline, and making their costumes allowed her to find even more joy in the holiday she'd always loved. As her kids got older and she realized through the internet that there were actually other people like her who enjoyed spooky art, Brandi started dreaming of making things she loved and opening a shop. It took her years (and some encouragement/pressure from her family) to finally gather the courage.
Brandi started creating tiny houses with ghosts haunting the windows. Her true love is anything Victorian cemetery related, and her favorite things to make are mausoleums.
She works mostly with a combination of wood and clay in my art. Brandi has never been a fan of horror or gore, as much as she loves all things haunting and spooky, and she feels her creations reflect that.
