Art Dolls/Figurative Sculpture

Rebecca Miller Campbell is a self taught artist from the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. From her home studio in West Liberty, Kentucky, she creates one of kind contemporary folk art dolls, ornaments and sculptures full of color, whimsy & nostalgia.

Some of her earliest memories revolve around creating art in her home as child with her mother’s help. Hand-painted Halloween pumpkins were an annual and sacred tradition, as were homemade Halloween costumes. The love of Halloween and of art has remained throughout the years, so it is no coincidence that Halloween themed pieces are one of the highlights of Rebecca’s body of work.

Made from materials such as cloth, paperclay, and found objects, each heirloom-quality piece is meticulously sewn, constructed and painted for depth of character and an old world feel. In Rebecca’s work you’ll see elements of traditional Halloween imagery like devils, witches, cats and pumpkins, but you’ll also see pieces inspired by her Kentucky home and the traditional wood carved folk art that is prevalent in the region. Foxes, raccoons, and opossums deserve a Halloween twist too!

It is Rebecca’s hope that her Halloween art work elicits a smile, or the greatest compliment of all-a belly laugh, or that it simply reminds the viewer of a more magical time…Halloween, when whimsy reigns supreme!
