Kathie Ruffner is a self-taught artist and has spent decades mastering various mediums and dabbling in many different arts and crafts. In the 90's she tried her hand at dollmaking and fell in love with creating unique characters, such as witches, and Halloween quickly became her focus.
Witches are Kathie's favorite to create. She hand sculpts their faces, hands and feet and gives each one a unique personality. Her dolls are built on wood and wire armatures providing durability and the arms and legs have posability. Costuming is a fun and time consuming part of her creation process, she fusses with each detail until each piece is perfect. She loves how each doll comes to life and becomes a special and unique character.
Kathie's work has been featured in and on the cover of Art Doll Quarterly (no longer published), in a number of feature articles in Somerset Studio, and profiled in Prims Magazine.
She shows her pieces on Facebook and Instagram and sells through her Etsy Shop Primville.
