Strum, Tammy

Light and Shadow Studio

Art Dolls/Figurative Sculpture, Decor, Painting

✨ Legacy Profile ✨

In the mountains of Montana was once the Light and Shadow Studio, where the creations of Tammy Strum came to life. Tammy was a lifelong artist, working as a designer and production artist before becoming self-employed as a one-of-a-kind (OOAK) folk artist. Her tagline was “A pinch of magic and a dollop of laughter.” Her characters included moons, witch shoes, black cats, jack o’lanterns, crows, and more.

Tammy delighted her peers and collectors with Christmas, Easter, and Halloween creations made from wood, paper clay, glass glitter, and gourds. Her work was vintage-inspired, whimsical, and rich in warm colors—they practically glowed.

She mentored and encouraged many artists and was noted for being humble. She sold her work through her newsletter, PFATT Marketplace, EHAG, Spookytime Jingles, and Ghoultide Gathering. On her blog, she once wrote that she was “especially touched by the collectors who drove hundreds of miles just to meet me” (2014). In 2016, EHAG held a tribute in her memory.

She was also an avid gardener, reader, wife, and mother. Born in Utah in 1958, Tammy passed away in 2016. Her work can still be found on the secondary market and remains highly collectible.

Legacy Profiles honor the life and work of artists who have passed away.
