Must-See Collector Videos: Cher Beall’s Californian Curios

In this series, I’ll be sharing must-see Halloween decor videos. All of the collectors proudly display original art pieces amongst their assemblies of Halloween treasures. Not only are the videos fun to watch, they’re overflowing with inspiration and invite us to connect with fellow art lovers.
Cher Beall is an accomplished interior designer hailing from Southern California. In this video by production company Homeworthy, we are invited in for an exclusive tour of her stunning home, all gussied up for Halloween. Cher’s collection is an amazing blend of original art pieces, vintage, mass market, and expertly crafted DIY magic.
In the opening scene, my eyes jumped right to the Vergie Lightfoot pumpkins on her entry table. Collectors will enjoy spotting work by several well-known Halloween artists throughout the tour. While showing us one of her table displays, she shares her admiration for Wendy Addison and Bethany Lowe. I also spotted several Debra Schoch pieces.
Cher collects whimsical hat boxes and lanterns by folk artist Rick Conant. It appears he is retired, but his work is still highly sought after and available on eBay. Cher said, “It brings me such joy when I bring them out” as she was showing off her Conant boxes. Cher isn’t the only one who is smitten with Rick’s work. Martha Stewart is also a Conant collector.
What can we learn from Cher? Here are my key takeaways from this video.

Use light and neutral base decor in your home so your seasonal decorations pop.
Create drama by using decorative boxes in your color scheme and to vary display heights.
Add funny glasses and hats to your decorations to make them more whimsical than scary.
