In this series, I’ll be sharing must-see Halloween decor videos. All of the collectors proudly display original art pieces amongst their assemblies of Halloween treasures. Not only are the videos fun to watch, they’re overflowing with inspiration and invite us to connect with fellow art lovers.
I’m shivering with excitement over sharing this spellbinding video from our very own Jorene Lomenzo. “A Whimspookal Collection” chronicles Jorene’s evolution from watching classic horror films as a child to obsessed Halloween art collector. Throughout the video, we are treated to gaze upon many of the treasurers in Jorene’s extensive collection.
What can we learn from Jorene? Here’s my key takeaways from this video.
Collecting is an artform: Jorene stated, “my art is displaying art.” I’ve heard so many collectors say “I wish I were creative.” Curating a mind-blowing collection is a creative process! Collectors need to give themselves more credit for their compositions.
Displaying something consistently throughout the years can help create meaningful holiday traditions: Jorene shared that she has neighbors that return every year to take pictures in her front yard. What can we do in our own communities to create life-long memories?
Attending in-person shows elevates our craft: You don’t need a plane ticket or a long road trip to curate an awesome collection. If you are able to go - do it! You can also be the person scanning for the spooky stuff at one of your hometown shows.
